Interesting facts about Podiatry

Podiatry is that it is one of the oldest medical specialities. The first recorded instance of foot care dates back to ancient Egypt around 2600 BC, where carvings depicting foot care have been found in tombs. Podiatrists, also known as foot and ankle surgeons, are specially trained to diagnose and treat conditions of the feet and ankles. They often work with patients who have diabetes, peripheral artery disease, and other conditions that affect the feet and ankles.

Qualifications for the APA

To become an Australian Podiatry Association (APA) member, an individual must meet specific qualifications. These include completing a recognized undergraduate or postgraduate degree in podiatry, completing a minimum of 1000 hours of supervised clinical practice, and passing the APA's written and practical examinations. Additionally, members must adhere to the APA's Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice and participate in continuing professional development to maintain their membership. It is important to note that the registration and qualifications needed to practice as a podiatrist in Australia may vary depending on the state or territory in which you want to practice.
